The Tagore Nagar unit of the Sadbhavna Manch” hosted an interfaith Iftar Dinner today here. Indeed it was an evening of Love, faith, diversity and Unity, as the religious leaders of the different faiths graced the occasion. Representatives from various religious and cultural associations and prominent community leaders attended the Iftar dinner and enjoyed the meal.It was a diverse assembly of cultures and faiths. In fact, Iftar is a fast-breaking meal eaten by Muslims after sunset during the holy month of Ramadan. Just before the fast was broken, Mr Shakir of Jamat-e-Islami Hindi’s Bhandup Unit presented a brief introduction of Ramadan and fasting.One of the guests suggested that such type of events should be organised on a regular basis. We don’t know very much about the other faith. Such type of events provides us an opportunity to come close and it creates a sense of togetherness.The majority of the guests were of the opinion that events like these are so meaningful and important because you focus on the similarities instead of the differences. Mr Muhammad Anis, a prominent Muslim Community member of the area said that the most important part of this evening today is inclusion. The adherents of different faiths and cultures came together and spoke about spirituality, kindness and humanity. ShriMr Rashid Azim, President of All India Milli Council, Mumbai unit, Shri Narsingh Prasad Tiwari, President of Azad Nagar Ganesh Mandal, Mr Shripat Thorat of the Buddhist society, Mr Mario Rodrigues of Bombay Catholic Sabha, Shri Sailesh Gala of Jain Community and Mr Raspinder Singh of Sikh Community were prominent religious leaders, who attended the event.
