MMERC Mumbai’s ninth branch is all set to impart English language education to madarsa graduates in Kolkata
Mumbai, 10 Feb. 2019:
Markazul Ma’arif Education and Research Centre (MMERC), Mumbai has finalized the affiliation process of its ninth branch in Kolkata to start the two-year Diploma in English Language and Literature (DELL) course to equip madrasa graduates with English language, communication technology, comparative study of religions and general studies. This new institution will be managed and run by Madni Foundation for Education, Research and Development (MFERD), Kashipur, Kolkata. This will be the first MMERC, Mumbai affiliated institution in the state of West Bengal.
In a high level meeting at MMERC office in Mumbai the Chairman of MFERD Mufti Imdadul Islam Mulla Qasmi submitted a written copy of fulfilling all the conditions required for setting up of a DELL branch to the Director of MMERC Maulana Muhammad Burhanuddin Qasmi. There followed a long discussion and finally it was decided and announced that MFERD will function from upcoming academic year as a permanent DELL affiliated member of MMERC, Mumbai. Notably MMERC already has eight affiliated institutions in different states of India.
The two-year DELL course promoted by Markazul Ma’arif Education and Research Centre (MMERC) is a brainchild of Maulana Badruddin Ajmal Al-Qasmi, CEO of Ajmal CSR and Lok Sabha MP from Assam’s Dhubri, who took this unique initiative in 1994 to hone the skills of madrasa graduates in English language and communication technology. Today, this course has gained considerable acceptance in its attempt to bridge the gap between ulama and modern intellectuals. It is heartening to note that MMERC and the alumni of its affiliated institutions are doing their best for the sake of religious, educational, social and cultural upliftment of Muslims community and people from all faiths in general. They have been working in various fields in 17 countries of the world today besides India.
Two annual meetings are held for analyzing academic performances of all the institutions in a year. The first one is held at the time of Inter-DELL National Elocution Competition among all the institutions while the second one is organized on the occasion of Combined National Entrance Exams. Although all affiliated institutions are independent in managing their own administrative affairs but they are fully intact in following MMERC prescribed syllabus, method and quality of education.
“As per the academic calendar this year the Combined National Entrance Exams will be conducted from 21 to 24 March, 2019 in Deoband. Fresh graduates of madaris— Alim or Fazil— from any mainstream madrasa of India are eligible to sit in this entrance exams”, said the national coordinator of DELL course Maulana Muddassir Ahmad Qasmi.
